Patrice Ahrweiller 1945-2019
Patrice Ahrweiller was born in France in 1945 into a family of artists, his grandfather being a sculptor and his grandmother a pianist. When he discovered painting, he really found his place in the family. He studied applied arts at the Boulle School and at the Grand Palais in Paris, then put aside his brushes and paintings and study music. He even won second prize in classical guitar at the Paris Conservatory. He also taught guitar and drawing in Provence, before moving to Montreal in 1980. After painting for many years, Patrice Ahrweiller devoted himself at length to architectural sketching, producing highly constructed works with a contemporary touch. . He then abandoned all angles to create surreal and organic structures. Believing that straight lines are very restrictive, he creates images that transport the observer away from everyday reality
