Originally from St-Raphaël near Lévis, Jacques Barbeau was born in 1934. Graduated in 1956 from the École des beaux-arts de Québec, which has since become the École des arts visuels de l'Université Laval, he studied the drawing, carving in wood, stone and metal. He completed his training with internships in Europe and the United States. In 1988, Jacques Barbeau confided his tastes to Rachel Lussier, art critic for the daily La Tribune. He loves wine, Beautiful people and fishing. Jealous of his time and his space, he does not disdain political speeches and sees his involvement in the community as a parallel path to the creative gesture and to his career as a teacher. Established since 1971 in Sherbrooke, Jacques Barbeau is a public figure who has been of many causes
